My research is focused on the relationship between aesthetics, user experience, and computation and automation in design.

The history of death masks, L’Inconnue de la Seine, memes and the meaning and future of 3-d scanning in design. Published in the Room One Thousand “Timeless” Issue.

A series of proposals and thoughts about the ethics and methods of engaging the public in the design process.
Participants were asked to assign basic programs to areas on a floor plan. Their drawings were evaluated and compared to produce a series of crowd based schematic design drawings about usage patterns, proportions, and adjacency .
Prototype designs for a biofeedback meditation guide and anxiety management device

A speculative design for an Artificial Fragrance manufacturing facility that focused on synthesizing smells that would evoke hyper-specific memories and associations. The ceiling was conceived as a series of orchid-boxes with heights reflecting the program. The orchid box was then tested at LBNL for transmission and a planting scheme was derived from available light values to accommodate various breeds of orchid.
